OPEN LETTER TO MY DEAR MOTHER

Dear Mother,

To love they say is a choice, one that I have consciously chosen. Being loved in return on the other hand, is a blessing indescribable with words; true happiness expressed as a state of mind irrespective of surrounding harsh realities.

Happiness does not come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather recognizing and appreciating what we do have, something priceless I call a friend, love, mentor and mother (YOU).

You are a special gift to mankind, a rare creation of God's innate ability. A beautifully set piece of jewel, an array of gold in silver lining, and the dazzling beauty of God's perfect piece of art.

You have such strength that amazes me, soft yet strong. I marvel at how you can handle and overcome troubles, carry heavy burdens yet holding happiness, love and varying opinions at the same time. Your tear holds an expression of love, grief, loneliness, joy and pride.

 One I can never understand, no matter how hard I tried.

• You smile when you want to scream.

•   Sing when you feel like crying.

• Cry when you are happy.

• And laugh when you are afraid. 

Your love is unconditional, your kiss and hug heals every broken heart, and your sacrifices, I remember every single one of them. From your care for a broken limb, to the loss of a loved one. Being subjected a prisoner of tradition, and the unfailing strength to get on with life holding no resentment whatsoever.

You always stay strong and cure yourself even when sick, working several long hours every day, alongside your enterprising ventures we all were a part of; learning and watching how you think, reason and negotiate. Your strength of character, and how you fight for what you believe in, standing against injustice, never taking NO for an answer when a better solution remained unexplored.

You have taught me well, you have taught me all. 

A well rooted foundation in God, appreciating the ties of family, and the bond of friendship, replacing hate & rage with love & peace, the importance of been selfless, the ability to dream big and the tenacity to push and have results.

You might wonder of what purpose this script intends to achieve, well I won’t hesitate to tell you.

Many a times, you forget your true worth amidst all the worries life throws at us. As such, I’ve taken the liberty to remind you only a fraction of such an amazing Woman you are.
